GBHS seizes WAC crown

DODGE CITY — The Great Bend High School boys’ and girls’ bowling teams took home Western Athletic Conference titles after winning the conference tournament on Thursday afternoon.
Led by Dakota Conaway’s 693 series on the boys’ side and Jessica Sterba’s 521 total on the girls’ side, Great Bend had 10 bowlers receive All-WAC honors.
Conaway was named WAC MVP with a conference-leading game average of 225.66.
Lady Panthers’ Miranda Hejny was conference MVP for the girls with a 186.33 average.
Great Bend hosts a Class 5-1A regional tournament on Saturday, Feb. 23, at Walnut Bowl. The girls compete at 10 a.m., followed by the boys at 12:30 p.m.
