The Class 5A sub-state volleyball tournament, which is set for Saturday, pits Great Bend in one of four sub-states across the state.
The Lady Panthers, who captured third place at the Western Athletic Conference Tournament last Saturday in Hays, is in the Salina Central sub-state, along with Andover, Andover-Central, Hays, Newton, Salina Central, Salina South and Valley Center.
Valley Center (33-2) is ranked No. 3 in the latest Kansas Volleyball Association rankings, which was released on Oct. 19. Newton (34-3) is ranked No. 4, and Salina Central (24-13) also received votes in the poll.
As of presstime late Wednesday night, the 5A pairings had not been updated on the Kansas State High School Activities Association web site.
