CLASS 5A QUALIFIERS
Great Bend’s Kerby Depenbusch and LaCora Bryant each won two individual events to lead the Panthers to 13 state-qualifying events for the Class 5A state track championship May 26-27 at Wichita State.
Depenbusch captured first place in the 1,600 (4:33.9) and 3,200 (9:59.64) at the Goddard Eisenhower track regional. Bryant won the 100 (12.18) and 200 (25.92).
The Panthers earned five runner-up finishes — triple qualifier Baleigh Fry, 800 (2:23.3); Kate Warren, discus (125-2); Eric Vazquez, 800 (2:01.14); Annie Mills, high jump (5-0); and the Panthers’ 3,200 girls’ relay (10:15.17) with Baleigh Fry, Karen Razo, McKenna Esfeld and Paloma Sandoval.
Other state qualifiers were Karen Razo, 3,200, third (12:13.18); Jaclynn Schroeder, high jump, third (4-10); the girls’ 1,600 relay, fourth (4:15.11) with Bryant, Mills, Esfeld and Fry competing; and the 3,200 boys’ relay, fourth (8:31.56) with Depenbusch, Connor Griffith, Mason YellowWolf, Vazquez competing.

CLASS 2A STATE QUALIFIERS
St. John’s boys qualified in the 400 (45.63), 1,600 (3:35.09) and 3,200-meter (8:34.85) relays. Dorian Berisha, Quincy Smith, Jorge Calleros and Cole Kinnamon run the 400 relay. Calleros, Alexis Valenzuela, Trey Fisher and Smith run the 1,600 relay. Smith, Triston Long, Trey Fisher and Calleros run the 3,200 relay. Kinnamon made the 200 field (23.77).
Tara Nelson made the javelin (106-4) and the 400 relay (53.79) qualified with Kerisa Brown, Baley Doggett, Paige Doran and Torre Fisher.

Ellinwood’s Joanna Strecker, a returning state placer, qualified in the 800 (2:31.96). Strecker also qualified with Ellinwood’s 1,600-meter relay (4:29.16) with LaTaja Gray, Maddie Hayes and Marie Maestas. Hayes qualified in the 300 hurdles (50.21).
Ellinwood’s Drew Blake won the 100 (11.68) in the regional and qualified in the 200 (24.3). Peter Joslin, 400, fourth (54.28); and Payton Duvall, javelin, third (154-5) also qualified.

Macksville’s Jacob Rein won the 200 (23.48) and qualified in the long jump (20-111/2) and triple jump (42-2). Bryce Casper won the 110-meter hurdles (16.33).
The Mustangs qualified Emma Stimatze, long jump, third (16-11/2); Sarah Hammeke, 3,200, third (13:05.6); and th4e 3,200 relay (11:10.72) with Stimatze, Jennifer Ortiz, Sophie Filbert and BrayLynn Anchutz).

Central Plains qualified its 400-meter girls relay (54.1) with Keely Hipp, Emily Ryan, Cassidy Crites and Rebecca Stratmann competing.
High jumper Alex Barton cleared 6-0 to qualify in third place.

CLASS 1A STATE QUALIFIERS
Pawnee Heights athlete Regan Carlson qualified in four events for the Class 1A state track championship in the 1A track regional at South Gray High School. Carlson placed second in the long jump (15-101/2) and 1,600 (5:52.2) and finished fourth in the 800 (2:34.04) and 3,200 (143:14.33).
Kade Scott of Pawnee Heights soared 19-5 to qualify for the Class 1A state track championship. Stafford’s Cayden Brozek qualified in the 3,200 (10:53.48).

Otis-Bison’s defending state long jump champion Taylor Regan qualified third (16-03/4) and won the triple jump (34-01/2) to lead the Cougars’ state qualifiers for the 1A state track championship Friday-Saturday at Wichita State. Regan won the 1A long jump and placed third in the 1A triple jump last year.
Blake Bahr was a double qualifier in the 100 (12.29) and 200 (24.54). Luke Higgason qualified in the shot put (44-0). The Cougars’ 3,200 relay (11:18.4) qualified with Regan, Cristen Trapp, Anjoelina Johnson and Maddie Wiltse.
