Riley Smith drilled a grand slam homer as the American Legion 17-and-under Great Bend Braves swept Cunningham 17-0 and 36-2 in Sunday’s baseball doubleheader at the Great Bend Sports Complex. The Braves (8-2) travel to Dodge City Tuesday and play Pratt Wednesday at home.
BRAVES 17, CUNNINGHAM 0 — Smith’s grand slam keyed a seven-run third inning. Townshend Kurth and Jesus Bujanda also homered.
Joey Soupiset drove in two runs. Christian Zahnter, Dalton Barfield and Nahum Olivas drove in runs.
BRAVES 36, CUNNINGHAM 2 — Barfield drove in seven runs with four hits as the Braves scored double digits in three straight innings. Cal Kaiser, Olivas, Jayce Christiansen, Brayden Powell and Colin Hall each drove in three runs. Zahnter and Jesus Bujanda each drove in two runs.
