Coming off two big road wins, the Great Bend Middle School 8th-grade girls basketball team returned home to sweep Dodge City Middle School.
The A-team used the momentum started by the B-Team and captured their third win in a row by downing the Cardinals 36-11. Taryn Warren dominated the boards and scored 15 points. Warren hit five free throws to go with five field goals.
“Dodge City had one really good player, but Taryn Warren did a great job containing her and denying her the ball,” said coach Kyle Jeffrey. “Alayna Irwin stepped up and took a charge, giving their best player her fourth personal foul.”
The Lady Panthers (5-3) were up 16 points when that happened and a running clock came in effect by the fourth quarter.
Starting the evening off was the B-team, which has been playing consistent basketball. The Lady Panthers took a quick lead and never looked back as they outscored the Lady Cardinals 23-2.
Arely Reyes scored 10 points followed by Daltrey Kurth with 6 points. The Lady Panthers B team improves to 6-0.
