HAYS — The Great Bend Middle School wrestling team finished as league runner-up at the Bob Threlkel Middle School Western Athletic Conference Tournament.
Great Bend’s WAC middle school wrestling champions were Kaden Spragis (85), Avery Wolf (120) and Wyatt Weber (95). Wolf completed the middle school season with a 21-0 record.
“I love being a part of a team. We all work hard together and we all keep getting better,” Wolf said. “My next goal is to be a high school state champion and get my picture on the wrestling room wall.”
Kaden Spragis said, “I miss it already. It was a really good season.”
Miriya Scott captured first place in the 100-pound junior varsity division.
Other Great Bend wrestlers who placed as WAC runners-up were Skyler McMullen (80), Scott Heilman (120), Demetrius Legarreta (141), Devin Dilbeck (155), and Caden Miranda (180).
“I am proud of our kids and their accomplishments,” said Great Bend coach Norbert Muth. “They worked hard very hard and should be proud of themselvesI have enjoyed this group and look forward to seeing what they can do at the next level.”
