The Great Bend Sports Complex should be a packed place today.
Sportswriters, sportscasters and photographers will be flocking to Class 5A regional tournaments at two locations —Goddard-Eisenhower and Great Bend in softball, and Maize South and Great Bend in baseball.
The Lady Panthers (17-3) — who play Liberal (3-11) at 3 — and the Panthers (15-4) — who play Newton (6-12) at 4 — are both No. 2 seeds.
By sweeping a doubleheader from Larned on Friday night at the Sports Complex, 2-1 and 5-3, the Panthers leap-frogged arch-rival Hays in the regional seedings after the third-seeded Indians (15-5) split with Junction City in another non-conference twinbill.
The Lady Panthers are coming off a doubleheader sweep of Hutchinson on Thursday at the Sports Complex.
