Great Bend’s girls basketball team (7-2) will play Lawrence Free State (7-2) at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Free State Tournament. The second round will be played Friday.
Free State is eighth sixth in Class 6A and finished 17-5 last year. All-stater Madison Piper is averaging 20 ppg. The Freebirds lost 49-48 to Lawrence High and 42-40 to Leavenworth, last year’s Class 5A state champion.
Two-time defending state champion Central Plains (9-0) will play Little River (1-9) at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Barton Hilltop Hoops Classic. The Oilers beat Moundridge in the championship game last year. Macksville (2-7) plays Wichita Life Prep (8-0) and St. John (3-6) meets Moundridge (8-1) in Tuesday’s games.
At Pratt, Larned’s girls play Maize South at 5 p.m. Tuesday and Kansas City Washington at 6:30 p.m. Friday.
