EMPORIA — Great Bend High School’s Christian Graham finished in 20th place to earn a medal at the Emporia cross-country meet on Saturday.
The Lady Panthers placed eighth out of 14 teams with 208 points, and the Panthers finished ninth with 217 points.
“On the girls’ side, every single one of them ran their best time of the season, and our top 3 boys ran well,” Great Bend head coach Todd Kaiser said. “There were a lot of (Class) 6A schools at the meet. I think there were three 5A school, including us and Thomas Aquinas, which is always in the top two or three at the state meet. I think we did pretty well against the competition.”
Graham, a senior, clocked in at 17 minutes 42 seconds to lead the Panthers.
Senior Cristian Garcia finished 27th (17:50) and junior Cole Mulch placed 51st (18:37).
Karen Razo, a freshman, led the Lady Panthers, finishing in 23rd place (16:48).
Senior Kaitlyn Tuey finished 30th (13:12), junior Mariah Stein placed 33rd (17:15) and senior Morgan Harwood, who was running in her first meet this season after an ankle injury, crossed the finish line in 59th (18:40).
