ELLSWORTH -- Hoisington tailback Hunter Hanzlick scored four touchdowns to lead the Cardinals past Ellsworth 39-20 in a Class 3A, District 15 football game. Hoisington (7-0, 1-0 District) plays at Larned (1-6, 1-0) next week. Hanzlick rushed for 187 yards and pushed his season totals to 1,198 yards and 19 TDs. The Cardinals gained 446 yards.
The No. 1 ranked Class 3A Cardinals outscored the Bearcats 27-8 in the second half after a 12-12 halftime tie. Hanzlick scored on runs of 2, 2, 8 and 27 yards. Ellsworth's Hower scored on an opening 28-yard interception return. Sean Urban scored on a 38-yard fumble return for a 6-6 tie after Colton's Hower interception return for a TD. Hoisington's Cameron Davis scored on a 7-yard run and added 88 yards rushing. Quarterback Tyler Specht rushed for 93 yards.
