Harris captures first place at Great Bend Invitational

GREAT BEND — Grant Harris led Great Bend High School's tennis team with a first-place at No. 1 singles at the Great Bend Invitational. Great Bend finished third with 36 points. Harris cruised through a 6-0 record. His closest match was a 8-6 decision over Sterling’s Zach Brashear.
Sterling finished first at No. 2 singles and second at No. 1 singles  to finish first with 42 points. Garden City finished second with 37 points.
Playing at No. 2 singles, Great Bend’s Jun Ruh Chan finished second with a 5-1 record. Sterling’s Henry Weiner beat Chan 8-3 for first place.
At No. 1 doubles, the Great Bend tandem of Justin Kuhlman and Daniel Marshall finished sixth with a 2-4 record.
At No. 2 doubles, Great Bend’s Jermaine Lopez and Marcos Cerda placed sixth with a 1-5 record.
Hoisington was paced by runner-up Cameron Davis with a 4-2 record at No. 1 singles. The Cardinals scored 31 points.
Ellinwood’s best finish was recorded by Marc Waite at No. 1 singles with a fourth-place finish of 3-3.
The day-long event featured eight-game pro sets with a three-point tiebreaker.
