Hays rolls over Great Bend

HAYS — The Great Bend High School football team fell 47-14 against Western Athletic Conference foe Hays on Friday night.
The Panthers drop to 4-3 overall, 2-2 in the WAC.
Lane Clark caught a 24-yard touchdown pass from Alex Delton to break the scoreless tie in the second quarter.
Hayden Kreutzer got a safety for the Indians, followed by a 6-yard TD run from Preston Weigel, boosting Hays to a 16-0 lead.
Great Bend broke onto the scoreboard with a 72-yard pass from Bryce Beck to Johnny Allende. A two-point conversion cut the lead in half at 16-8.
Clark split the uprights from 29 yards out to make it 19-8 Indians, and Weigel scored his second rushing touchdown, a 9-yard scamper to boost Hays to a 26-8 advantage.
Justin McGinnes dived to reel in a 6-yard pass from Beck in the end zone with 16 second left in the first half.
The Panthers trailed 26-14 at halftime.
Delton scored on 24- and 7-yard rushes in the third quarter, making it 40-14 heading into the final 12 minutes.
Delton scored again in the fourth quarter, diving into the end zone for a 1-yard run.
