HAYS — Trey Herman of Hays High School fired a 2-under 69 to win medalist honors on Monday at the Class 5A regional golf championships at Smoky Hill Country Club.
Herman, who is expected to sign at Fort Hays State, led Hays (312) to a lopsided regional crown as the Indians beat second-place Newton (357) by 45 strokes.
Salina Central also advances as a team to next week’s state tournament in Newton after shooting 359 — edging Salina South (360).
