Hoisington girls end basketball season

ELLSWORTH 41, HOISINGTON 24
ELLSWORTH – The Ellsworth girls outscored Hoisington 12-0 and shut out the Cardinals for eight minutes to pull away for a 41-24 Class 3A substate basketball victory.
Ellsworth (16-5) led 20-13 at halftime before outscoring the Cardinals 21-6 for a 41-19 lead. Defensive standout Paige Talbott hounded Hoisington’s leading scorer Emma Harmon, who worked hard for 10 points. Maleigha Schmidt and Harmon broke the 8-minute drought with baskets for the Cardinals (8-12).
Kolby Davis led Ellsworth with 18 points.
