Hoisington runners compete at Sterling

STERLING — Hoisington freshman Dayne Yott placed 16th (17:47.09) to lead the Cardinals in the Class 3A cross country regional at Sterling Country Club. The Cardinals placed 13th with 292 points. Also counting for the Cardinals were Brinttain Noah, 50th, 19:53.46; Andrew Rincon, 71st, 21:27.21; Dylan Carrier, 84th, 24:11.93; and Braden Konzem, 86th, 25:20.47.
Halstead’s defending state champion Steven Cline (16:25.34) was medalist and Hugoton’s Abraham Garcia (16:29.78) placed runner-up. Hugoton (42) edged the two-time state champions from Halstead (44) for first place.
Hugoton captured the girls division (53) with Norton (79) second. Hutchinson Trinity’s Celia Biel (19:09.19) was medalist ahead of Norton’s runner-up Lexi Kats (19:20.81). Hoisington’s Jessi Kindscher placed 27th (22:11.15).
