LARNED — Hoisington High School swept a softball doubleheader at Larned on Tuesday.
The Lady Cardinals won the first game 8-4, and ended the second game 13-3 in six innings.
Hoisington struck first in Game 1, driving in a run in the top of the first, but the Lady Indians answered with a run in the bottom of the first to knot the score.
The Lady Cardinals scored four runs in the third and kept Larned at arm’s length for the victory.
In the second game, Hoisington held a 4-0 lead heading into the bottom of the fifth, but the Lady Indians scored three runs to close the gap.
The Lady Cardinals scored nine runs in the sixth, and held Larned scoreless in the bottom of the inning to enact the run-rule.
Jennifer Hitschmann went 6-for-8 with five RBIs in the doubleheader for Hoisington.
Emily Lucas of Larned went 4-for-7 in the twinbill with a double and three stolen bases.
