GYPSUM — Hoisington wrestlers No. 4 ranked Landen Urban (35-1, 285), No. 1 ranked Christopher Ball (35-2, 152), No. 2 ranked Jonathan Ball (38-0, 145), No. 4 ranked Sean Urban (35-2, 160) and Wyatt Pedigo (32-7, 170) captured Class 3A regional wrestling titles.
No. 2 state-ranked Hoisington scored 166 points to place first in the regional. The Cardinals qualified eight wrestlers for the state meet at Hays Feb. 24-25.
In the finals, Landen Urban pinned Chaparral’s Jaden Eslinger in 56 seconds. Christopher Ball def. Rudy Rodriguez of SE Saline 7-0. Jonathan Ball downed Rock Hills’ Zane Colson, 7-3. Sean Urban defeated Ellsworth’s Zac Schneider, 5-2.
Placing second were No. 4 ranked Justin Bradley (29-4, 220) and Tanner Cassity (33-4, 132) in the Gypsum wrestling regional.
Bradley lost 5-2 to Cheney’s Devin Haas. Republic County’s Trevor Lowell beat Cassity 7-4 in the finals.
Hoisington’s Dylan Carrier (13-18, 120) placed fourth.
