Kingman sweeps Hoisington softball

KINGMAN — Kingman pitcher Carlie Kelley finished what she started, winning both games of a softball doubleheader with Hoisington, 13-3 and 17-7. Kingman improves to 3-1 and Hoisington drops to 1-3.
KINGMAN 13, HOISINGTON 3 (G1) — Kingman’s Kelley struck out seven batters and yielded one earned runs. Hoisington pitcher Taylor Boxberger permitted 14 hits and seven earned runs.
Aurora Ingram drove in two Hoisington runs. Sydney Bangert, Kingman’s Alexa Smith and Macey Maloney each drove in two runs.
Alexa Smith’s double scored Bangert and Hayley Belt for a 2-0 lead. In a six-run second inning, Bangert drilled a two-run single, Maloney delivered a two-run double and Brianne Garrison’s sacrifice fly scored Maloney for an 8-0 lead.
Cardinal Brooke Bachar scored on Keeley Wolf’s third-inning groundout. Eagles Anna Livingston and Haley Belt scored on third-inning errors. Bailey Taylor and Dalayne Naillieux hit RBI singles in the fifth inning for a 12-1 lead.
Ingram’s single scored Brooke Reif and Wolf in the fifth inning. Kelley’s RBI single that scored Smith ended the game on the 10-run rule.
KINGMAN 17, HOISINGTON 7 (G2) — Kingman’s Maloney and Garrison each drove home four runs.
In a seven-run first inning, Garrison hit a two-run single and Maloney, Janelle Belt, Alyson Knoblauch and Hayley Belt added RBI singles.
The Cardinals chased starter Janelle Belt with a five-run third inning. Bailee Bachar, Brooke Bachar and Trinity Dolezal delivered RBI hits and Brooke Bachar and Dolezel scored on an error and wild pitch.
Taylor scored on a third-inning wild pitch. In a four-run fourth, Smith and Garrison drove in runs and Maloney and Kelley scored on errors for a 12-5 lead.
Cardinals Brooke Steinert and Jenna Urban drove home runs for a 12-7 score after 41/2 innings. The Eagles scored five times for a run-rule victory. Maloney hit a two-run single and Garrison and Taylor delivered RBI singles for a 17-7 win.
