HOISINGTON — The Hoisington High School volleyball team bested all three Mid-Central Activities Association opponents on Thursday at the conference quadrangular.
The Lady Cardinals, who are ranked No. 1 in Class 3A in the latest Kansas Volleyball Association poll, swept Larned, Ellinwood and Thomas More Prep-Marian.
In fact, Hoisington didn’t let an opponent score more than 12 points in any one game.
The Lady Cardinals beat TMP-Marian (25-10, 25-12), Larned (25-8, 25-3) and Ellinwood 25-12, 25-12).
“As far as being ranked, it means nothing but a number on a piece of paper and a big ‘X’ on our team for someone to want to knock us off,” Lady Cardinals head coach Tina Johnson said. “We will have to be ready to play each time we step on the floor. It is that number at the end of the season that matters. I tell the girls it’s not where you start that matters. It’s where you finish.”
This Tuesday and Thursday, Hoisington will be at home at the activity center as it takes on No. 1-ranked St. John (Class 1A Division-I) and Macksville beginning at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
The Thursday night quadrangular, beginning at 4, features matches against Otis-Bison, Wakeeney and Larned.
