LIBERAL — The Great Bend High School girls’ soccer team scored early against Liberal on Thursday night.
However, Liberal scored in the second half, which tied the game at 1-all and forced the game into a 10-minute overtime period.
The host Redskins scored the golden goal to win 2-1 with three minutes remaining.
Golden goal is a term that describes the overtime set up where the team that scores first wins and ends the game.
Berenice Prieto was the lone goal-scorer for the Lady Panthers. She beat the defense and buried a strong shot into the goal.
The Lady Panthers are now 4-3-1 overall, including a Western Athletic Conference record of 2-2-1.
Great Bend takes a week off with the next varsity game being scheduled for Monday, April 25, in Hays.
