Lady Panthers set for 5A state third-place game

TOPEKA — The Great Bend High School girls' basketball team was bumped to the Class 5A State Tournament third-place game after losing 76-58 on Friday evening at the Topeka Expocetnre.

The Lady Mustangs jumped on the Lady Panthers early and Great Bend couldn't make up the difference.

Great Bend was led by Lauren Welsch, who had 12 points.

Lady Panthers play Kapaun-Mt. Carmel, which beat last year's state champions in the first round, on Saturday at noon.
