SALINA — The Great Bend High School softball team swept a pair of pitcher’s duels against Salina Sacred Heart on Monday.
The Lady Panthers improve to 4-0 on the season with 4-2 and 5-3 victories.
Hunter Middleton pitched the entire first game, scattering five singles while giving up one earned run and two walks. She finished with four strikeouts.
Braylin Bretz struck out five while allowing six hits and one earned run in game two.
“They were both good pitcher’s duels,” GBHS Carrie Minton said. “Sacred Heart had some good hitters. Both of our pitchers did really well against some aggressive batters.”
Stephanie Morrison led the Lady Panthers with three RBIs on the day and a run scored in the sixth inning of game one when Great Bend took a late 4-1 lead.
Morrison scored on an error and Hannah Mauler drove in two runs to give the Lady Panthers the lead and win.

Great Bend plated a run in each of the first four innings and one in the sixth to prevail.
