Lady Tigers rally for road victory over Lady Oilers

CLAFLIN — Teresa Christie lit up the scoreboard with 24 points, leading St. John High School’s girls’ basketball team over Central Plains on Tuesday evening.
Christie went 16-for-19 from the free-throw line.
Jamie Waters added 11 points for the Lady Tigers, who are ranked No. 5 in Class 1A Division-I in the latest Kansas Basketball Coaches Association poll.
St. John led 8-6 after the first quarter, but the Lady Oilers scored 14 points in the second period to lead 20-16 heading into intermission.
The Lady Tigers scored 32 points in the second half to pull away.
Central Plains, which is No. 5 in 2A, was led by Jennifer Hitschmann, who finished with 14 points.
Reagan Phelan added 12.
St. John hosts Cunningham on Friday night.
Central Plains travels to Larned on Tuesday, Dec. 18.

HUTCHINSON — Stafford just couldn’t keep up with Central Christian.
The Lady Trojans (0-4)  and their lack of numbers haunted them as the Cougars ran away with the game.
Kym Womack led Stafford with 11 points, going 7-for-8 from the free-throw line.
The Lady Trojans are done until after the Christmas break.

Otis-Bison 47
OTIS — Ellinwood added to its lead in all four quarters.
The Lady Eagles (3-2) were led by Sophie Hayes, who finished with 16 points, and Amanda Tucker added 15.
Hannah Bannister scored 17 points, and Annie Kraisinger finished with 15 for the Lady Cougars (1-4).

The Lady Indians outscored the Lady Celtics 22-18 in the final half, but fell short.
Reagan Quick led Larned with 11 points.
The Lady Indians host Hoisington on Friday night.
