LARNED — Larned’s Jack Stelter drove home four runs in the nightcap as the 15-and-under Babe Ruth baseball team swept Nickerson 13-2 and 12-5 Monday night. Larned improved to 9-9 for the summer.
LARNED 13, NICKERSON 2 — Larned pitcher Dillan Smith struck out eight batters and threw a three-hitter to spark his team to a 13-2 victory.
Nickerson’s Colton Ediger scored on a first-inning error. Larned answered with five runs. Jack Stelter doubled home Dillan Smith. Ian Orth and Stelter scored on bases-loaded walks. Trevor Bartz singled home Logan Erway and Jacob Grosfield.
Bartz singled home Erway and Grosfield scored on a second-inning wild pitch for a 7-1 lead. Nickerson’s David Weis singled home Colton Ediger for a 7-2 score.
Smith and Orth scored on errors to ignite a six-run fourth inning. Erway singled home Stelter. Grosfield singled home Erway. Grosfield stole home and Kaden Pontius scored on a sacrifice fly by Christian Murray.
LARNED 12, NICKERSON 5 — Nickerson led 4-0. Ediger and Kyle Elliot scored on hit batters and Austin Bell scored ona bases-loaded walk. Kolby Shea scored on a wild pitch.
Stelter scored on a wild pitch after he delivered a two-run double that scored Smith and Colin LaBouchardiere. Smith scored on a wild pitch after singling home Murray for a 5-4 lead. LaBouchardiere scored on an error and Pontius scored on a wild pitch after singling home Erway for a 9-4 lead.
Nickerson’s Shea scored on a double steal in the third inning. Pontius singled home Stelter in the fourth inning. Orth scored on a fifth-inning fielder’s choice and Ibarra and LaBouchardiere scored on an error for a 12-5 score.
