LARNED – By the time Larned’s Alea Makings delivered the game-changing base hit, she’s broke a windshield and earned the respect of the play-by-play radio announcers with well-placed foul balls.
Makings’ best work was a fair ball that scored Baylea Perez in a four-run fourth inning that sparked the Indians’ 7-4 softball victory over Hoisington.
The Cardinals routed the Indians with a dominating 20-1 victory in the nightcap. Larned (8-6) plays Hesston at home Friday. Hoisington (8-4) plays Halstead at home.

LARNED 7, HOISINGTON 4 (G1) – Larned broke a 3-3 tie with a four-run fourth inning. Abby Towery scored the first run and Makings’ single scored Perez. Makings scored on an error and Lynzi Myrick scored on a passed ball for a 7-3 lead.
After trailing 3-0, Larned pitcher Mattie Glover shut the Cardinals out until the seventh inning when Brooke Steinert’s triple scored Keeley Wolf. Second baseman Towery turned the game’s best play with a sixth-inning double play.
Hoisington’s Jenna Urban delivered a two-run single after an error and two walks started the first inning. Taylor Boxberger’s single scored Urban for a 3-0 lead.
Larned’s Perez scored on an error and Myrick drilled a two-run homer for a 3-3 after one inning.
Glover stranded nine baserunners in the first four innings and retired seven batters with runners in scoring position.

HOISINGTON 20, LARNED 1 (G2) – Hoisington’s Jenna Urban ripped a three-run double and drove home five runs and Bailee Bachar hit a three-run homer in an 11-run third inning to key the run-rule rout. Steinert drove home three runs and Brooke Bachar and Aurora Ingram each drove home two runs.
The Cardinals’ 11-run inning off reliever Baylea Perez was keyed when Urban reached base on a strikeout. The Cardinals delivered seven extra-base hits. Perez broke up Boxberger’s shutout with a fifth-inning RBI.
