PRATT — Larned’s Amanda Lessard lost a three-set match to Wellington’s Abby Lowe 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 in the Pratt 4A tennis regional to miss qualifying for the Class 4A state tennis tournament.
No. 8 seeded Lessard lost to regional champion Sydney Lair of Wichita Collegiate, 6-0, 6-0 in the quarterfinals after she won her first match 6-3, 6-0 over Wichita Trinity’s Stevens.
Larned’s No. 2 doubles team Abby Kelty and Ali Leiker surprised Hays High’s No. 7 seed Joslyn Dinkel and Gabby Taliaferro 7-5, 4-6, 10-8 in a third-set tiebreaker. But Kelty and Leiker lost the next two matches, including a 6-1, 6-2 loss to Scott City’s Krystal Appel and Emma Price for a Class 4A state berth.
Larned’s Kristin Anderson and the doubles team of Macy Haas and Katelyn Sanger lost second-round matches.
