LARNED — Alea Makings drilled a two-run single that sparked Larned to a Central Kansas League doubleheader sweep over Halstead 8-5 and 14-12 Thursday. Larned (6-6) moves to .500 and Halstead drops to 0-10.
LARNED 8, HALSTEAD 5 – In a 5-5 game, Haley Skelton doubled and Mattie Glover singled to start a three-run sixth inning. Lynzi Myrick reached on an error and Skelton scored the go-ahead run. Makings’ single scored Myrick and pinch-runner Kendra Grandy for an 8-5 lead.
Pitcher Mattie Glover yielded a home run, but earned the victory.
Kelsey Parr, Mattie Glover, Ivory Muldrow and Myrick also drove in runs.
LARNED 14, HALSTEAD 12 – Larned built a 14-7 lead and reliever Mattie Glover recorded the final outs. Madison Erway homered and drove home two runs. Mattie Glover drove in two runs.
Myrick, Maddy Wares, Grandy, Makings, Perez also drove home runs.
