HILLSBORO — Larned’s Baylea Perez tripled home three runs to cap a six-run rally for a 12-8 softball victory over Hillsboro. The Indians trailed 8-6, but drew five walks and a batter was hit by a pitch.
The Indians were down to their last out when Krehbiel was hit by a pitch to force home a run. Taylor and Grandy drew bases-loaded walks for a 9-8 lead. Perez made the Trojans pay with a base-clearing double that scored Trista Flock, Abby Towery and Grandy for a 12-8 lead.
LARNED 12, HILLSBORO 8 (G1)— The Indians hit the ball with authority delivering five extra-base hits.
Lynzi Myrick’s RBI triple and Mattie Glover’s RBI double handed the Indians a 2-0 lead. Kendra Grandy, Perez, Alea Makings and Myrick drove home runs in a four-run fifth inning.
Makings started the seventh inning with a single followed by walks to Myrick and Glover. Two more walks and a hit batter handed the Indians a 9-8 lead.
Ava Weisbeck and Cheyenne Bernhardt drove in the Trojans’ first two runs. Ava Weisbeck’s two-run triple and Ellian Wesbeck’s RBI single gave the Trojans a 5-2 lead. Taylor Helmer’s single tied the score 6-6 after five innings.
Samantha Moss delivered a two-run single for an 8-6 lead off Larned pitcher Mattie Glover.
HILLSBORO 16, LARNED 1 (G2)— Larned pitcher Abby Towery started with five walks and a hit batter to fuel a seven-run first inning. Hillsboro’s Kylee Martin drove in three runs and Ellian Weisbeck drove in two runs.
Bernhardt, Dani Klein, Moss, Ava Weisbeck and Marler-Bisbee also drove home runs.
Larned’s Lynzi Myrick doubled home Baylea Perez for the Indians’ run.
