ATTICA — The Macksville Mustangs are virtually assured of a playoff showdown with Central Plains after a 42-22 Eight-Man I, District 6 football victory over Attica-Argonia. The Mustangs (6-2, 3-1) will tune up for the playoffs Thursday against Fairfield. Fairfield (0-8, 0-4) has lost by an average score of 60-12.
Macksville’s Jacob Rein rushed for 208 yards and five touchdowns as the Mustangs ran the ball effectively in 30 mph wind. Quarterback Kody Mead added a touchdown run. Mead has thrown for 1,136 yards and 24 touchdowns. Rein has rushed for 622 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Kaleb Lickiss intercepted a pass and recovered a fumble forced by Nate Brandyberry. Harley Blaske had 13 tackles and Luis Saenz and Brandyberry each had eight tackles.M 6 16 14 6 — 42
