Macksville looks to start tournament run tonight

The Macksville High School boys’ basketball gets their first Class 1A Division-I State Tournament test tonight at 8:15 in Emporia at White Auditorium.
Macksville is the No. 6 seed of the tournament, entering with a record of 16-7.
It challenges Blue Rapids-Valley Heights, the No. 3 seed.
Valley Heights is 21-2, and hasn’t lost since Jan. 24, a 44-40 setback against Hanover.
Macksville is on a five-game winning streak, going back to a Feb. 21 meeting with St. John-Hudson.
Macksville, which is ranked No. 7 in 1A D-I in the latest Kansas Basketball Coaches Association poll. Valley Heights in ranked No. 4.
Macksville is led by Tanner Tranbarger, who averages 21.3 points per game. He is one of three players in double figures.
Simon Miller averages a double-double with 15.3 points and 13.2 rebounds.
Jordan Welch rounds out the trio of seniors in double figures with 12.6 points per game.
