PRAIRIE VILLAGE — No. 2 seed Central Plains Oiler Emily Ryan advanced to Saturday's singles championship and lost 6-2, 6-0 to Kansas City Christian’s Lilly McNeil in Class 3A girls state tennis tournament at Prairie Village’s Harmon Park.
Ryan (32-3) downed Shawnee-Maranatha's Emma Prowell 6-0, 6-1, KC Christian's Emma Sand 6-1, 6-0 and Conway Springs’ Sabrina Bellar 6-4, 6-0 to reach the state championship match. Ryan defeated her semifinal foe Conway Springs’ Sabrina Bellar during the season. McNeil placed third and Ryan placed fifth last year.
