Oiler volleyball team claims third at state

EMPORIA – The Central Plains High School volleyball squad out of Claflin took third at the 2A tournament this past Friday and Saturday at White Auditorium in Emporia.
Central Plains went into the tourney with a 37-1 record and ranked number on in class 2A.
 The pool play results were:
• versus Chase County, 25-18, 25-18
•versus Wabaunsee, 14-25, 25-20, 16-25
•versus Smith Center, 25-19, 25-18
In the semi-final, the result was:
• versus Washington County 25-20, 22-25, 23-25
And, in the consolation round, the result was:
•versus Spearville 25-23, 25-18


In addition, the Kansas Volleyball Association announced the 2014 State All Tournament Teams selected during the Kansas State High School Activities Association’s State Championships held on Oct. 31 and Nov. 1. A State All Tournament Team was selected for each classification and each is comprised of 12 players. High school coaches volunteer their time to evaluate the competition at each site and then select the State All Tournament Teams.
In the 2A class, CPHS sophomore Cassidy Crites and CPHS junior Taylor Rolfs both made the cut.
Head coach Kim Rolfs is assisted by assistant coaches Brittany Kratzer and Lisa Crites, and the manager is Kylie Holmes.
