Central Plains girls 59, Russell 39

LINCOLN — Defending champion Central Plains cruised past Russell 59-39 in Friday’s semifinals in the Amos Morris George Stephens Basketball Classic. Reagan Phelan paced the Oilers with 19 points and Cassity Crites and Kylee Kasselman scored 12 points apiece.
The Oilers led 29-19 at halftime and outscored the Broncos 16-7 for a 45-27 lead after three quarters. The Oilers play Phillipsburg in Saturday’s 5 p.m. championship game at Lincoln High School.
Russell’s Megan Boxberger drilled three consecutive 3-pointers to slice the Oilers’ lead to 47-39 with 5:30 left.
