Central Plains High School will look to bounce back from its first loss of the season to challenge Canton-Galva on the road in both football teams’ Eight-Man Division-I District 5 opener on Friday night.
Quarterback Braedan Crites has his team’s offense churning out points as the Oilers average 48.5 points per game.
Crites has completed 35 of 68 passes for 975 yards and 13 touchdowns.
Layne Bieberle has a team-leading 200 receiving yards and four TDs.
Michael Lamatsch is right behind him with 187 yards and two scores for the Oilers (3-1).
Canton-Galva is coming off its first loss of the season as well, a 50-20 setback against Peabody-Burns.
The Eagles (3-1) average 52 points per game, but their stingy defense has only allowed 11.25.

Larned (4-0) at Cimarron (3-1)
Larned has already improved on last year’s start.
The Indians went 3-0 before falling to Ellis on the road in 2012, but a 39-7 win over the Railroaders last Friday has kept Larned’s record spotless.
Now the Indians get to try their hand at Cimarron, which beat them 20-19 in Larned last season.
Quarterback Easton Palmer continues to lead the offense, rushing for 337 yards and eight touchdowns.
The senior has completed 27 of 45 passes for 588 yards and six touchdowns.
Cimarron senior quarterback Caleb Fischer has thrown for 331 yards and seven touchdowns. He has thrown one interception.
Ty Clark has rushed for 283 yards and four TDs.

Hoisington (1-2)
at Phillipsburg (4-0)
Hoisington secured its first win of the season last Friday, a 55-6 Mid-Central Activities Association romp over Ellinwood.
Junior running back Nolan McCurry leads the Cardinals with 459 yards and five touchdowns.
Avery Urban adds 170 rushing yards and three TDs.
Hoisington has split time at quarterback between junior Brad Reif and freshman Taylor Richter.
Reif has completed 9 of 24 passes for 100 yards and four interceptions.
Richter has connected on 3 of 9 passes for 138 yards and two scores. He has thrown one interception.
Senior Grant Wickman leads Phillipsburg’s offense with seven rushing touchdowns. He has 295 rushing yards.

Macksville (1-3)
at South Barber (2-2)
Macksville is 1-1 in Eight-Man D-I Disrict 6 action after beating St. John-Hudson 58-36 last Friday.
Quarterback Tanner Tranbarger is continuing to rack up yardage.
The senior has completed 44 of 65 attempts for 540 yards and seven touchdowns. He has two interceptions.
Tranbarger is also the team’s leading rusher with 578 yards and 12 scores.
Simon Miller has become a dominant receiver for the Mustangs with 412 yards and seven TDs.
South Barber has amassed 1,656 yards, 414 yards per game.
Otis-Bison (0-4) at Dighton (2-2)
Otis-Bison is set to open Eight-Man D-II District 7 action against Dighton.
Kole Urban leads the Cougars with 253 passing yards, completing 27 of 56 attempts for one touchdown.
Urban has rushed for a team-leading 420 yards and six TDs.
Jordan Hoffman rushed for 232 yards and three scores.
Isaac Alinor is Dighton’s leading rusher with 286 yards and two scores.

St. John-Hudson (1-3)
at Kinsley (1-3)
St. John is coming off a Central Prairie League and Eight-Man D-I District 6 loss 58-36 against Macksville.
The Tigers offense relies heavily on running back Schuyler Brown, who has rushed for 570 yards and 10 touchdowns this season.
Kinsley, which is 0-2 in district action, has gotten most of its offensive production from quarterback Conner Frame, who has completed 22 of 46 passes for 565 yards and nine TDs. He has also thrown eight interceptions.
Frame has rushed for 226 yards and one score.
Tyler Espinosa has a team-leading 365 rushing yards and five touchdowns.

Stafford (2-2) at Caldwell (2-2)
Tristin Paulsen leads Stafford with 512 rushing yards and five touchdowns. He also has 129 receiving yards and one score.
Ethan Johnson has 469 rushing yards, but has a team-leading nine TDs. He also has 129 receiving yards with three touchdowns.
Trojans quarterback Derek McClure has completed 19 of 32 passes for 316 yards and four scores. He has thrown three interceptions.
Caldwell averages 34.5 points per game, while allowing 14 per game.

Sterling (0-4) at Ellinwood (0-4)
Ellinwood will look to get out of its slump against winless Sterling in its first Class 2-1A district 5 game.
Eagles quarterback Marc Waite has completed 18 of 54 passes for 234 yards and one touchdown.
Sterlling averages 24.25 points per game, while allowing 38.25.
