Oilers seize early lead, roll past Stafford

CLAFLIN — The Central Plains High School football team’s quarterback, Bryce Steiner, was involved in all but one of the Oilers touchdowns on Friday night.
Central Plains scored 30 points in the first quarter on their way to a 38-8 win over non-conference opponent Stafford.
Steiner threw for three touchdowns and ran for another in the first quarter.
Central Plains’ Layne Bieberle scored two of the touchdowns, one in the first quarter on a 21-yard pass from Steiner, and the other on a 47-yard punt return in the second quarter.
Stafford running back Ethan Johnson scored on a 2-yard dive in the third quarter for the Trojans’ only touchdown
Central Plains travels to Otis-Bison, while Stafford is on the road at Burrton next Friday night.

Larned 27, Ellsworth 25
LARNED — Larned shredded a three-year losing streak in AB Stokes’ debut as head coach of the Indians as they knocked offv Ellsworth.
The Indians were led by senior running back Brady Keith, who rushed for 186 yards and three touchdowns. Running back Jesse Martinez added another touchdown.
Quarterback Easton Palmer completed 11 of 17 passes for 167 yards. He threw one interception, and also rushed for 51 yards.
Jamil Shoemaker was the Tribe’s leading receiver with 74 yards.
Larned travels to Ellinwood for a Mid-Central Activities Association showdown next Friday night.

Victoria 34,
Macksville 20
MACKSVILLE — Macksville junior quarterback Tanner Tranbarger rushed for 103 yards and three touchdowns, but the Mustangs fell to Central Prairie League foe Victoria.
Tranbarger only completed 5 of 23 passes for 79 yards, while throwing two interceptions.
Knights quarterback Sam Ottley was Victoria’s leading rusher with 108 yards and two scores.
The Mustangs look to challenge Ness City on the road in Week 2.

TMP Marian 38,
Ellinwood 20
HAYS — Ellinwood found itself down 14-6 after one quarter, and Thomas More Prep Marian was able to hold its lead to beat the Eagles.
Patrick Ringering led the Eagles with 181 rushing yards and two touchdowns.
Ellinwood quarterback Jared Oelke completed 2 of 8 passes for 43 yards.
The Eagles host MCAA opponent Larned next Friday night.
