Victoria at Central Plains
For Central Plains High School, this game has a lot of meaning for the returning athletes.
The Oilers returned a number of players from their 9-2 season last year.
Victoria was one of the two in 9-2.
Last year, the Knights, who went 10-1 overall and 5-0 in the Central Prairie League, defeated Central Plains 66-28.
Both teams went on to win games in the postseason, but that loss stuck with the team.
Oilers head coach Chris Steiner said that the loss was something his team needed last year. It helped put the need for practice and improvement in perspective.
Now Central Plains gets another shot at one that got away in 2013.

St. John-Hudson  at Ellinwood
The St. John-Hudson High School football team gets the honor of welcoming Ellinwood to an Eight-Man division.
The Eagles are making the switch to Eight-Man Division-I after going 0-9 last season in Class 2A.
Not only that, but Ellinwood is in the Central Prairie League, making this a league game.
The Eagles will be looking for their first win since 2011.
St. John is back under the control of Nick Garcia, who stepped down before last season.
The Tigers are coming off a 2-7 season.
In 2012, Garcia helped lead the Tigers to an 8-2 record.

Otis-Bison at Macksville
Both teams are coming off rocky seasons heading into 2014.
Macksville struggled through the 2013 season, finishing 1-8 overall.
The Mustangs managed to beat county rival St. John, 58-36.
Now, Macksville has a new head coach in Chet Skinner.
Otis-Bison went six games without a win last year before turning things around.
The Cougars won their final three games to finish 3-6.

Hoisington at Larned
The 2014 season marks a new chapter for rivals Hoisington and Larned.
Both are in the Central Kansas League this year after the Mid-Central Activities Association disbanded.
Hoisington even has a new head coach in Zach Baird after the Cardinals went 4-5 last season under Jason Ingram.
Larned is coming off one of its best seasons in years, finishing 7-3 overall after falling to Andale in the postseason.

Pretty Prairie at Stafford
Stafford also had one of the best seasons in recent years in 2013.
The Trojans went 7-3 last year, making it to the playoffs.
Stafford fell 24-20 against Waverly.
Pretty Prairie is coming off a 3-6 season.
