Oilers survive Cardinal rally

HOISINGTON – Hoisington sliced a Central Plains lead to 39-38 on Cameron Davis’ inside basket.
But Alex Hickel preserved a 44-38 Central Plains victory over Hoisington with a driving shot. Devin Ryan and Collin Schlochtermeier iced the ballgame with free throws after a tying 3-point attempt by Hoisington’s Alex Schremmer missed.
Brett Liebl led the Oilers with 14 points and Devin Ryan added 13 points.
Davis led the Cardinals with 13 points and freshman Alex Schremmer added 10 points.
Central Plains plays Lincoln at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday at the Russell Tournament and Hoisington plays Larned at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Gene Keady Classic.

No. 1 ranked Oilers roll on
HOISINGTON – Freshman sensation Emily Ryan debuted with a sparkling 23-point effort to lead the Central Plains Oilers past Hoisington 58-22 in a non-league basketball showdown. Kylee Kasselman added 11 points.
The Oilers led 34-12 at halftime and outscored the Cardinals 24-10 after halftime.
Emma Harmon led the Cardinals with 11 points. The Cardinals made nine baskets against rugged Oiler defense.
Central Plains plays Lincoln at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday at the Russell Tournament and Hoisington plays Larned at 5 p.m. Monday at the Gene Keady Classic.
