Central Plains High School all-staters Reagan Phelan and Taylor Rolfs will highlight the Fifth Annual Central Kansas All-Star High School Basketball Classic Sunday at Barton Community College.
“We have a tremendous group of young ladies and men participating in this year’s classic,” said Trevor Rolfs, Barton Community College athletic director. “It should be an exciting afternoon and evening of basketball.”
Washburn University-bound Phelan and Fort Hays State University-bound Rolfs led the Oilers to their third consecutive Class 2A state basketball championship at Bramlage Coliseum this spring.
Others competing in the 4 p.m. girls game at the Kirkman Activity Center are Great Bend’s Lauren Welsch and Hoisington’s Rylie Koester. Sterling High’s Jill Rowland and Moundridge’s Brian Holloway are head coaches for the all-star teams.
Class 2A boys state runner-up Central Plains is well represented with four Oilers competing in the 6 p.m. boys game at the Kirkman Center — Michael Ryan, Jacob Warnken, Brady Rugan and Braeden Crites, who all earned all-league honors. Central Plains coach Brett Rolfs will coach his high school players on the American team.
Also competing will be Great Bend’s Trey Ibarra, Larned’s Isiah Perez, Jordan Zimmerman and Trevor Meyer, Hoisington’s Steffan Dolechek, St. John’s Jacob Milton and Otis-Bison’s Hayden Maier. Jackson Heights coach Chris Brown will coach the National team.
