OTIS-BISON BOYS 44, INGALLS 34
INGALLS – The Otis-Bison boys raced past Ingalls 44-34 to clinch the Cougars’ first state basketball appearance since 2012 when they placed runner-up. The Cougars (16-7) play Hartford (18-5) at 4:45 p.m. Thursday at Dodge City's Wireless Arena. Other first-round games are Caldwell (21-2) against Axtell (6-17), Ashland (18-6) against Sharon Springs-Wallace County (17-6) and Hutchinson Central Christian (19-4) against Wheatland-Grinnell (14-9).
Maitland Wiltse scored 12 points and Anton Foust added 11 points for the Cougars, which earned the ninth state trip in Bison and Otis-Bison school history. The Cougars outscored Ingalls 9-3 in the third quarter.
Colton Schmidt led Ingalls (9-13) with 18 points.

INGALLS – Cristen Trapp scored the game-winning fourth-quarter free throws with five seconds left to spark the Otis-Bison girls past Ingalls 28-26 in the Ingalls Class 1A-Div. 2 basketball substate. Trapp broke a 26-26 tie after getting fouled on a rebound attempt.

The Cougars play Caldwell (15-7) at 4:45 p.m. Wednesday at Dodge City's Wireless Arena. For Otis-Bison (18-4), it’s the first state basketball trip since 1990, a 27-year span. The Cougars have qualified for state in 1976, 1985 and 1990. In other first-round games, it's Waverly (22-1) against Wetmore (13-10), Wheatland-Grinnnell (20-3) against Fowler (14-9) and Rexford-Golden Plains (20-3) against Hutchinson Central Christian (15-8).
Taylor Regan led the Cougars with 10 points.
