HAYS — The Great Bend Middle School 8th grade basketball team hit the road to take on the Hays Falcons in a non-league game. The Panthers, coming off their first win, hoped momentum would help in an extremely tough game. Unfortunately, Hays Middle School rolled to a 52-21 victory as the Panthers struggled to shoot the ball all evening.
“We couldn’t find the inside of the basket tonight,” said Great Bend coach Dale Kuhlman. “You add 20 turnovers due to an aggressive press by the Falcons and seven rebounds, we didn’t have our best game tonight.”
Joseph Moeder scored seven points and Sage Koelsch added six points.
Hays Middle School won the B game 39-19. The B-team struggled finding the bucket. Evan Wedel contributed four points and Tyler Stein and Jade Poe led the rebounding.
The Panthers play Hays again Feb. 22 at Great Bend for a league contest.
