LIBERAL — Great Bend’s Kelby Titus continued strong play in the Western Athletic Conference with a fifth-place finish (72) Tuesday that earned him All-WAC honors. Titus earned All-WAC honors for the second consecutive season.
Titus birdied Nos. 9, 11 and 15 to offset a trio of bogeys at Willow Tree Golf Course.
“Titus finished off a solid conference season shooting even par 72 and earning fifth-place medalist,” said Great Bend coach Travis McAtee. “He completes the 5-tournament conference season as a 2-time 1st team All-WAC individual.”
The Panthers finished fifth (376) with Jared Divis (96), Aaron Stein (103) and Isaac Panzer (105) competing. The Panthers compete in Monday’s Newton 5A golf regional at Sand Creek Station.
Garden City’s Taylor Larsen shot a school record 6-under-par 66 to earn medalist honors and edge teammate Sion Audrain for WAC Player of the Year. Garden City won the overall WAC title, edging Hays, which won Tuesday’s title (291) by one stroke over Garden City (292).
“There were excellent individual and team scores on a very nice golf day,” McAtee said.
