WICHITA — Great Bend’s Kerby Depenbusch (16:00.0) captured the Class 5A regional cross country title to qualify for his fourth state meet. The Panthers qualified for the state meet in third place with 67 points in the state’s toughest 5A regional.
Panthers Connor Griffith placed fifth (16:31) and Ryan Nicholson placed 19th (17:22). Other runners were Joshua Tomlinson, 20th (17:24); Sage Cauley, 22nd (17:25); Collin Hammond, 30th (17:50); and Ray Kuhlman, 46th (19:01).
Wichita Carroll placed first (54) and Maize South was second (64).
Great Bend’s Aubrey Snapp placed eighth (20:34) and Paloma Sandoval placed 11th (20:58) to qualify as individuals. The Panthers missed qualifying in fourth (85) behind Maize South (60), Maize (77) and Wichita Carroll (82).
Panthers also running were McKenna Esfeld, 14th (21:08); Baleigh Fry, 20th (21:32); Lacora Bryant, 32nd (22:22); Briana Perez, 39th (23:09); and Chloe Gibson, 47th (25:58).
