MAIZE— The Great Bend girls soccer team will face No. 3 seed Maize South (13-3) at 7 p.m. Tuesday evening in the girls 5A Region 3 tournament hosted by Maize South. Great Bend (4-11-1) is listed as the 14th seed. Other Region 3 competition includes 11th seed Liberal (5-10-1) taking on Andover Central (10-5-1, 6th seed) in a 5 p.m. contest at Andover Central Tuesday. The Region 3 championship game will be played at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 21 at Maize South.

In 5A Region 1 competition, Wichita-Bishop Carroll, the No. 1 seed at 15-1, will have a bye in the opening round awaiting the outcome of the Wichita-Heights (8-7-1, 8th seed) vs. Andover (8-8, 9th seed) contest. That game is slated for 7:30 p.m. Tuesday evening at Wichita-Heights. The Region 1 championship takes place on May 21 at 7 p.m. at Bishop Carroll.
 
Region 2 5A has Goddard-Eisenhower (12-2-2, 2nd seed) facing Arkansas City (1-15, 15th seed) tonight at 7 p.m. at GEHS. Wichita-Kapaun Mount Carmel (10-6, 7th seed) will square off at 6 p.m. Tuesday against Salina-Central (5-10-1, 10th seed) at Wichita’s Stryker Complex. The Region 2 championship game will be played Thursday at 6 p.m. at Goddard-Eisenhower.

Fourth seeded Valley Center (11-3-2) will play Goddard (4-11-1, 13th seed) Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Valley Center to begin the 5A Region 4 round. Newton (11-4-1, 5th seed) will battle Salina-South (5-11, 12th seed) on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at Newton. Region 4’s championship game will take place Thursday at 7 p.m. at Valley Center.
