Great Bend High School head volleyball coach Kelsey Perry still hasn’t settled on a final varsity roster.
That will be determined in the coming days, with the Lady Panthers opening the 2010 fall season on Thursday against Western Athletic Conference foe Garden City on the road.
One of the final looks came early Friday night, when the varsity and junior varsity scrimmaged at the Great Bend High School Fieldhouse. It came on the heels of the freshman scrimmage.
“We were very impressed with all of the girls,” Perry said. “We haven’t split into junior varsity and varsity yet, so it was good to see them competing for their spots.
“The scrimmage is a great way to get ready to open the season,” Perry said. “The freshmen travel to Garden City on Monday, and the junior varsity and varsity head to Garden on Thursday.”
The Lady Panthers are loaded with experience as they have eight returning seniors, including Nicole Reiter, a 5-foot-7 setter; Emily Seiwert, a 5-8 senior outside hitter; Morgan Fletchall, a 5-7 outside hitter; Jordan Haney, a 5-8 outside hitter; Ashley Boeger, a 5-10 outside hitter; Morgan Duvall, who at 5-10 plays the middle; Jennifer Allende, a 5-3 defensive specialist; and Kaitlee Spray, a 5-4 outside hitter.
Junior Katelyn Henning, a 5-3 libero, leads a talented group of underclassmen.
