Pittsburg Colgan makes 2-1A state baseball final

Two-time defending state champion Pittsburg Colgan rolled into the Class 2-1A state baseball finals with an 8-0 victory over Salina Sacred Heart at the Great Bend Sports Complex.

Kaleb Hamilton pitched a three-hit shutout. The Knights hurt their effort with five errors.
Colgan (13-11) has won a Kansas record 18 state baseball titles with 12 runner-up finishes. Colgan swept seven titles in a row from 2004 to 2010. The Panthers have won nine of the past 11 state baseball titles in 43 state appearances.

Colgan will meet Medicine Lodge or Oxford in Friday's finals.

Due to the possibility of rain later Friday, the championship game will be scheduled immediately after the second semifinal game.
