Sander, Crane lead GBHS at state tourney

PARK CITY — The Great Bend High School wrestling team finished in 14th place on Saturday at the Class 5A State Wrestling Tournament.The Panthers put together 59.5 points at Hartman Arena.St. James Academy won the team title with 180.5 points. Individually, the Panthers were led by a pair of third-place performances — Kade Sander in the 152-pound weight class and Jacob Crane at 285.Sander fell in the second round in a 4-2 decision, leaving him with four more matches to get back to third place.Sander made it through the long road back to beat Bryan Burnett of Mill Valley with a 4-2 decision for third place.Crane had the same situation, falling in the second round.Crane rolled ahead, having two matches go into an ultimate tiebreaker, including third place.
