Great Bend senior catcher Dakota Sanders will be taking her talents to Overland Park next spring.
Sanders, a four-year varsity catcher for the Panthers, has announced her intentions to play on the collegiate level at Johnson County Community College during a signing ceremony Thursday.
Entering her final season at Great Bend, Sanders was a 2014 WAC First Team All Conference pick following her selection to the WAC Honorable Mention squad as a sophomore. She helped lead the Panthers to conference titles in 2012 and 2014. In her first three seasons at GBHS, Sanders has helped the team to a combined 52-14 record. She has hit above the .400 mark leading up to her senior campaign with 66 base hits including 34 singles, 20 doubles, three triples and nine home runs.
Dakota selected to the WAC First Team Academic All Conference list over her first three seasons with the Panthers.
“Dakota has been a tremendous asset to our program throughout her high school career,” said coach Carrie Minton. “She’s been a tremendous leader on the field as our catcher and her work ethic, talent and knowledge of the game will make her a valuable addition to the Johnson County program.”
