St. John boys, Ellinwood girls place 3rd at Wamego

WAMEGO — The St. John boys and Ellinwood girls placed third in the Wamego Invitational cross country meet.
St. John’s A.J. Miller led the Tigers with a sixth-place finish (18:18.5). Norton (97), Alma-Wabaunsee (125) and St. John (131) led the team scores. Frankfort’s Brodric Shirley placed first (16:56.5).
Also running for the Tigers were 24th—Mason Osborne, 19:25.2; 40th—Trey Fisher, 19:59.0; 41st—Braden Witt, 20:04.4; 47th—Quincy Smith, 20:10.0; 60th—Cashe McVey, 20:36.8; and 65th—Wrangler Walker, 20:41.8.
Ellinwood’s Ashtin Klepper (21:38.9) led the Eagle girls. Also running for the Eagles were 13th—Erin Hammeke, 22:48.6; 22nd—Courtney Cook, 23:39.7; 33rd—Sarah Hammeke, 24:22.6; 72th—Alicia Mitchell, 28:20.5.
Bennington’s Halle Johnson won the girls race (20:30.6). Norton (70) was followed by Hays-TMNP (85) and Ellinwood (97).
