St. John, Macksville win Midwinter Classic games

ST. JOHN BOYS 56, LARNED 34 — St. John’s Tanner Halling scored 15 points and Chase Fisher added 13 points as the Tigers overpowered Larned 56-34 in the St. John Midwinter Classic.
The Tigers (8-2) outscored Larned 21-10 in the fourth quarter. Eddy Calleros added 10 points. The Tigers play Macksville in Friday’s 8;15 p.m. semifinals.
Larned (4-7) was led by Brock Skelton and Damontay Phillips with nine points apiece.

MACKSVILLE BOYS 51, NESS CITY 43 — Macksville’s Karson Waters scored 14 points as the Mustangs edged Ness City 51-43 in Tuesday’s St. John Midwinter Classic.
Kreed Parr had six assists. Waters had four steals and Kody Mead grabbed 10 rebounds. Macksville (8-2) plays St. John in Friday’s 8:15 p.m. semifinals.
Ness City (8-3) was led by Landon Reinhardt with 12 points. The Mustangs’ defense held John Pfannenstiel to 3 of 19 field goal shooting.
