St. John Tigers rally past Larned

The St. John Tigers and Little River Redskins advanced into Thursday's semifinal game at the Hilltop Hoops Classic.

ST. JOHN GIRLS 37, LARNED 32 – St. John rallied to outscore Larned 12-3 after the Indians shocked the Tigers 14-0 in the third quarter. Bree Meyer broke a 32-32 tie with a basket with a minute left. Meyer added a free throw and Torre Fisher iced the victory with two free throws.

Meyer led St. John (7-3) with 13 points and Tara Nelson added 11 points. The Tigers play Little River (9-2) in Thursday’s semifinal.

The Indians forced 10 third-quarter turnovers with effective pressure. Larned stunned the Tigers 14-0 in the third quarter. Brooke Butler and Baylea Perez scored baskets. Butler hit a 3-pointer followed by Katie Fischer’s basket. Kristin Anderson delivered a 3-pointer and 2-pointer for a 29-25 lead.

Butler scored 12 points for Larned (1-9).

Ell-Saline’s Lexi Kochanowski scored 12 points and grabbed 15 rebounds. Ashton Travis scored 12 points. Little River (9-2) plays St. John (7-3) in Thursday’s semifinal.
